MAY 2018 MARKED COMPRESSIONS BEING IN BUSINESS FOR 15 YEARS!
I can hardly believe 15 years has passed! It's been said that "anything that's worth it is never easy". While building a business takes hard work and endurance, we meet people along the way who make it easier for us to achieve our goals!
There have been times where I almost gave up on the vision I had from the beginning, "Helping Laypeople to learn CPR and First Aid, so they could help others". Whenever I felt like giving up, or lost my way, there was always someone who came on the sidelines and cheered me on, like ERNESTINE BOWLES, who believed in my vision so much, she helped me purchase the first manikins for the business. HELEN MORISSETTE (my mom) who listened to all the "mountain like" problems and assured me that "this too shall pass". SHALAYA MORISSETTE (my niece, AKA Brains) who built and maintained my very first website and told me "you gotta learn to use social media it's gonna be the wave of the future" (you were right Laya). Daphne Bernard, who my struggle to give trainings alone and decided she would take time, from her already busy schedule, to become a certified instructor so she could help out.
In November 2017, the "Helping Hands/Staying Alive" closed group was formed on Facebook. Although the purpose of forming this group was to share information about how to help others in an emergency, it's simply amazing to see that when you give, others give back! That group has been such a great inspiration for Compressions.
I have to say that the biggest inspiration to keep Compressions up and running has been OUR STUDENTS. I mean, when you show up for a retraining and people run up to you all excited saying "I helped someone who was choking" or "I helped someone who collapsed" and you see the excitement and happiness on their faces, knowing that they used the training you provided and helped someone else ............... WOW, how could you not keep Compressions going!
To all of you who have supported the Compressions Journey for the last 15 years I say a heartfelt "THANK YOU, I APPRECIATE YOU" and it hasn't been easy, but YOU'RE WORTH IT!
